Last week, Anita brought up the saying “find something you love to do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” She then negated it, saying she loves what she does yet works harder than she ever has.
I agree. I’ve had many jobs and they all involved some type of being “on the clock,” whether I was paid hourly or on salary. This job is different. Even when I’m “off” or on vacation I make it a point to be available if I’m needed, and I know my team does the same. Sure, part of that can be chalked up to being a workaholic, or to simply loving my job. But there’s a bigger piece involved.
Very few people are lucky enough to teach yoga for a living. Most in the industry have a part- or full-time job, teaching yoga on the side. Our staff has family, work, school, etc., and while everyone does their best to juggle life, sometimes they need a hand. Someone to step in. At Yoga Lab, we are firmly and unwaveringly FOR EACH OTHER.
If a family member or loved one called you in the middle of the night, would you decline the call because you were “off the clock?” This place isn’t just another job. It’s family.
